Playing with a 'loopie' toyMerry Go Round Toy & Leisure Library is a registered charity which runs two toy libraries in Exeter. Our first toy library, Merry Go Round, opened 9 years ago and is based in Exeter Scrapstore on the edge of Belmont Park. This proved to be so popular with families, carers and children that in November 2006 we opened a new branch, Carousel Toy Library, in West Exe Children’s Centre in St Thomas. The toy libraries are open not only for families with children aged from a few months to early teens, but also for any groups or individuals involved in providing daycare for children. You may be a foster parent or childminder, or involved in a group activity such as afterschool club, playscheme or preschool. Anyone who looks after children is welcome to become a member! Toy Libraries are exciting places to visit, like an Aladdin’s cave full of things you want to take home; they are centres for lending the best toys and games which adults and children can enjoy together. Many of our toys promote inclusion, with some specially designed for children with disabilities. We also have a wide range of resource books and multicultural toys. We are happy to give advice about specific toys for individual children, or alternatively what resources would suit group play. Come and visit us! Carousel Summer Stay & Plays

In addition to normal toy library sessions, Carousel will be running structured summer play sessions for parents and children to have fun and play together. These will include arts/crafts/freeplay/storytime/healthy snack and lots more. Sessions run from 9.30-11.30am on Tuesdays 28th July, 4th, 11th & 18th August.

Costs are £1 per child per session, and need to be booked in advance. Application forms from Carousel Toy Library or Reception at West Exe Children’s Centre.

Carousel closed June 4th

Carousel will be closed on Thursday June 4th as the hall is being used as a polling station. Free week for toys loaned out over this time.

Spin2 Dance

Lots of fun was had by all, with some great dancing to the music of Spin2 and large amounts of yummy cake, pizza and hot dogs being eaten.

We made over £140 for our Merry Go Round branch - many thanks to all who came, and a huge thank you to our committe for all their hard work

Family Dance with Spin2!

Come to our fundraising dance at Stoke Hill Infants School, 5pm-7pm, on Wed 22nd April. Lots of toe-tapping music, food and drink and a raffle! Support your toy library and have fun at the same time. Tickets £1.50 children, £3 adults. Available from Carousel and Merry Go Round Toy Libraries, and Stoke Hill Infants School.
